Sarah Aylward Idea

I agree with both Emma and Claires comments.

1. There should be more paper based work on show including visuals. I went to the degree show after the degree show night and like Emma found none of the pcs switched on, it basically looked like no one cared about anybody that may want to view the work after the degree show night

2. I think we should still have alcohol at the degree show but perhaps the choice of drink should be classy and a bit more up market from a can of larger! Im not sure what they had at last years show, but perhaps glasses of fizzy wine on a tray would be more suitable. People can pick them up to drink as they are walking round.

3. Me and claire have already discussed having booths made of the boards similar to the ones they use for illustration and graphics and I think this is a great idea to give people something to look at.

4. As for music on the night, I know its a long way off but as my project is music based (and if all goes to plan!) I would like it if I could use some of the music from the website, this would be some songs from locals bands. It doesnt have to be for the full night but I was hoping to promote part of the website that night in the form of compilations people could buy.

5. As for fund raising, I thought what the games students did last year was a good idea. Hosting gaming competitions at local bars were people could go and play against each other, with and entry/participating fee.

6. I think with christmas coming up it would be great to capitilize on those sales for our fund raising. Having a bake sale is getting a bit old now I think, so in regards to what emma said a raffle would be a nice alternative.

7. Crazy idea alert!! Haha, okay with it being christmas I did have a christmas themed fund raising idea which was to to have a christmas stall within the college where people could buy bits and bobs, then I thought how about we have candy canes on sale downstairs and people could buy them with intentions of sending them to someone in the college. Once they have bought one we could hand deliver them to whatever room they are in. haha! If anyones seen the film 'mean girls' they might no what I mean! Crazy... but different...and possibly more interesting than a bake sale!

  1. If you are having booths and classy drinks you really need to aim high for the found raising ideas, the booths wouldn't be cheap to do with them being mdf in the other departments, and alcohol isn't particularly cheap either. Also you need to think about the way people want to show there work, I have already asked James if I can have my work on a telly as it is a video and he said I can, and some people might want more than one computer screen. This makes the booths bigger so more money spent on materials for the booths. I wanted my main character cut out like the robot me and Chris did last year, and Matt said he wanted to do that too. I think we would need to do a layout plan, a realistic money plan and then we can work out how to make these booths work.
Also the tutors of the whole art school are having a meeting about bars, as there is a main school one and some of the other courses aren't happy that us and the fine art do a separate bar, as it takes us away from being part of the same uni, so we might not even be aloud any.

If you want to do a Christmas stall to make money I do card making and can make some decoration that can be sold on it, I think sweets are a good idea, as people always buy sweets and candy canes are a good idea as they are cheap for us to buy.
